Treatments for AD/HD
There are several treatments for AD/HD. Often the practitioner who diagnoses will recommend treatment options. In addition, it is important to note that the treatment of AD/HD, just as with other medical conditions, is finally determined by the patient or parents in the case of children. The most successful treatments are multi-modal.
Medical Treatments:
- Medication
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Other Behavioral Therapy
Alternative Treatments:
- Various Brain Training Treatments
- Neurofeedback
- Interactive Metronome
- AD/HD Coaching
- Parent Coaching or Parent Training
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids
The treatments above are based on various studies. There are other claims made around various nutritional supplements that have not been accepted by the AD/HD scientific community due to insufficient data.
We also know that there is a correlation between the following activities and improved functioning for the person with Attention Deficit Disorder.
- Eating a healthy diet including Omega 3 fatty acids and plenty of fluids
- Adequate and restful sleep
- Regular exercise
There is NO cure for ADD / ADHD.
The PowerSystems Team does not endorse or require any particular treatment for the client receiving coaching services. We believe that treatment options are a personal choice. We will, however, refer to other professionals if we see a need for other intervention.
